केरल सरकार राज्य के गरीब परिवारों को मुफ्त में सरकारी इंटरनेट सर्विस देने जा रही है. केरल में इंटरनेट को लोगों का बुनियादी अधिकार घोषित किया गया है. इसी के तहत केरल सरकार 5 जून को लॉन्च हो रही योजना के तहत शुरुआत में 14 हजार गरीब परिवारों को मुफ्त इंटरनेट सर्विस देने जा रही है. इसका जिम्मा राज्य की सरकारी इंटरनेट सर्विस प्रोवाइडर कंपनी केरल फाइबर ऑप्टिक नेटवर्क को दिया गया है. केरल सरकार का लक्ष्य राज्य में 20 लाख आर्थिक रूप से पिछड़े परिवारों को मुफ्त ब्रॉडबैंड सेवाएं देने का है. केरल फाइबर ऑप्टिक नेटवर्क केरल सरकार की एक पहल है, जिसके जरिए केरल को एक स्मार्ट स्टेट में बदला जा सकता है. केरल फाइबर ऑप्टिक नेटवर्क से राज्य में डिजिटल डिवाइड को पाटने और समाज के कमजोर वर्गों को सशक्त बनाने में मदद मिलेगी. केरल में 17,280 से अधिक सरकारी दफ्तरों को मुफ्त इंटरनेट सेवा कनेक्शन पहले ही दिया जा चुका है.
The Kerala government is going to provide free government internet service to the poor families of the state. Internet has been declared a basic right of the people in Kerala. Under this, the Kerala government is going to provide free internet service to 14 thousand poor families in the beginning under the scheme being launched on 5th June. Its responsibility has been given to the state's government internet service provider company Kerala Fiber Optic Network. The Kerala government aims to provide free broadband services to 20 lakh economically backward families in the state. Kerala Fiber Optic Network is an initiative of the Government of Kerala, through which Kerala can be converted into a smart state. Kerala Fiber Optic Network will help in bridging the digital divide in the state and empowering the weaker sections of the society. Free internet service connections have already been given to more than 17,280 government offices in Kerala.
