आम आदमी पार्टी के राज्यसभा सांसद राघव चड्ढा ने देश में चुनाव लड़ने की न्यूनतम आयु 25 वर्ष से घटाकर 21 वर्ष करने की मांग की है. राघव चड्ढा ने अपनी मांग के पीछे दलील दी कि इससे भारतीय राजनीति में युवाओं की भागीदारी बढ़ाने में मदद मिलेगी. राज्यसभा में राघव चड्ढा ने कहा कि भारत दुनिया के सबसे युवा देशों में से एक है. आम आदमी पार्टी के सांसद ने बताया कि भारत की 65 फीसदी आबादी 35 वर्ष से कम उम्र की है और 50 फीसदी आबादी 25 वर्ष से कम उम्र की है. राघव चड्ढा ने कहा कि जब आजादी के बाद पहली लोकसभा चुनी गई थी, तो 26 फीसदी सदस्य 40 वर्ष से कम उम्र के थे. जबकि पिछली यानी 17वीं लोकसभा में केवल 12 प्रतिशत सदस्य 40 वर्ष से कम उम्र के थे.

Raghav Chadha argued behind his demand that this would help in increasing the participation of youth in Indian politics. In Rajya Sabha, Raghav Chadha said that India is one of the youngest countries in the world. The Aam Aadmi Party MP said that 65 percent of India's population is below 35 years of age and 50 percent of the population is below 25 years of age. Raghav Chadha said that when the first Lok Sabha was elected after independence, 26 percent of the members were below 40 years of age. Whereas in the previous i.e. 17th Lok Sabha, only 12 percent of the members were below 40 years of age.
