संयुक्त राष्ट्र में भारत की स्थायी प्रतिनिधि रुचिरा कंबोज ने सामाजिक विकास आयोग के अध्यक्ष का पद संभाल लिया है. पिछले 50 सालों में ये पहला मौका है जब भारत को संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ में सामाजिक विकास आयोग की अध्यक्षता मिली है. इससे पहले भारत ने 1975 में इस आयोग की अध्यक्षता की थी. वहीं अध्यक्ष पद की कुर्सी संभालने के बाद रुचिरा कंबोज ने कहा कि, ये पूरे भारत के लिए गर्व की बात है.
India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj has taken over as the Chairperson of the Social Development Commission. This is the first time in the last 50 years that India has got the chairmanship of the Social Development Commission in the United Nations. Earlier, India had chaired this commission in 1975. On the other hand, after taking over the post of president, Ruchira Kamboj said that it is a matter of pride for the whole of India.
