चित्रकूट जो रामायण की घटनाओं का साक्षी रहा है. चित्रकूट में भगवान श्री राम ने अपने वनवास के साढ़े 11 साल बिताए थे. यहाँ आज भी उनके चरण चिन्ह बने हुए हैं. जिन्हें त्रेता युग का बताया जाता है. कहते हैं कि चित्रकूट की एक गुफा में जगह जगह राम, लक्ष्मण और मां सीता की निशानियां बिखरी हुई हैं.
