सनातन धर्म में किसी मंगल कार्य की शुरुआत हो ही नहीं सकती जब तक गणपति का पूजन न हो. सनातन धर्म में भगवान गणेश प्रथम पूज्य माने जाते हैं. घर में कोई भी शुभ काम हो, सबसे पहले श्री गणेश का आहवान किया जाता है, सबसे पहले गणेश जी को पूजा जाता है. मान्यता है कि सबसे पहले भगवान गणेश की पूजा करने से सारे काम सफल होते हैं. गणेश जी के कई नाम हैं. गणपति का हर नाम उनके रूप और उनकी लीलाओं से जुड़ा है.
